Santa’s Arrival and Holiday Parade at Roger Williams Park Zoo

November 25, 2015
Roger Williams Park Zoo is open all year long, and the fall and winter months are the best time to experience all the Zoo has to offer.

November is known to many as a time to be thankful, and the Zoo is no exception, as they give thanks by holding a special offer in honor of the men and women who serve the nation and local communities. This Veterans Day, November 11, all active and retired members of the armed forces will receive free Zoo admission. On this special day, in addition to free admission, the Zoo will also allow half-price admission for up to three guests. Identification of active or retired status must be shown to receive this offer.

The Zoo’s biggest fundraiser, the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, has ended after another successful season with record-breaking attendance, and soon the Wetlands Trail will be reopened for lovely late fall and winter nature walks. Zoo guests will enjoy Santa’s arrival in style, and a fun-for-all Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 28 at 9am, both free with Zoo admission. Guests will also be able to take their picture with the Jolly Old Elf himself for a nominal fee in addition to Zoo admission.

Another great offering for younger visitors this winter are the Zoo’s Preschool Adventure classes for children ages 3 to 5 and accompanying parents. These 90-minute programs focus on a special animal or area of the Zoo. For example, some classes center on elephants, snakes, or flamingos, while others take an up-close look at how different animals move. The programs include a lesson, fun family activities, crafts, and a program animal encounter. Pre-registration is required for the classes running on select days each month through February 2016.

Please note, the Zoo will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2015. Zoo hours:  10am – 4pm from October – March, with last admission at 3:30pm. Get details on these events and more at www.rwpzoo.org/events.
