There's no better way to spend a hot July day than with a trip to Roger Williams Park Zoo! The whole family will enjoy activities ranging from incredible animal encounters to unstructured outdoor play. And have we mentioned the scheduled superhero sightings?!

Fly, zip or zoom to the Zoo on Saturday, July 23 for the first-ever Zooper Heroes Day! Meet your favorite superheroes provided by RI Comic Con, visit more than 100 species of animals and find out their natural "superpowers," and learn how you can become a superhero for the planet. Costumes are encouraged! Zooper Heroes Day activities run from 10am - 3pm and are free with Zoo admission.

All summer long, make your trip to the Zoo even more memorable with amazing animal encounters! Stroll among more than 500 colorful birds in the Birds From Down Under exhibit during the new, extended hours of 10am to 4:15pm. Take a ride on the back of a camel and experience these majestic creatures like never before. Get up close and personal with the giraffes during either of the twice daily feedings. Enjoy any of these activities for a nominal fee in addition to Zoo admission. And for a very special behind-the-scenes experience, check out the harbor seal encounters. Register in advance online at rwpzoo.org.

Need a break to cool down? Bring your family to Hasbro's Our Big Backyard for some refreshing outdoor play in "The Drip Drop Water Garden." Don't forget to pack a towel and a change of clothes! You'll want to stash your wet stuff in the new storage cubbies located near Zoo admissions before venturing back out for more animal fun.

Get details for these and other events and education programs at www.rwpzoo.org. Zoo hours April to September: 10am - 5pm, with last admission at 4:30pm.
