Don’t let those winter blues get you and your family down! Roger Williams Park Zoo is open year round, and is the perfect cure for your cabin fever. Venture out for a winter trek through the Zoo and see cold-hardy animals like snow leopards, red pandas, red wolves, moon bears and more! Visitors pay half-price admission during January and February’s Winter Wonder Days, while Zoo members and toddlers one and younger can visit free of charge all year long.

After a bundled up tour of the outdoor exhibits, you can soak in the heat at the indoor greenhouse and Australasia exhibits, featuring many exotic animal species. And don’t forget to visit the Zoo’s largest residents, the African elephants and Masai giraffes, in the Elephant & Giraffe Pavilion! You can also grab a warm beverage or lunch at the Zoo’s Wilderness Café.

Roger Williams Park Zoo also provides fun and educational programs available for families and people of all ages, all year round.

If you have young toddlers at home, sign them up for Preschool Adventures classes, where parent/child pairs can learn about an animal or area of the Zoo, participate in crafts and activities, and come up-close with an education animal ambassador.

“Big kids” can create their very own masterpieces at the Zoo’s Wild Art (ages 6 - 12). These instructor-led workshops are designed to guide young artists in creating works of art to proudly be displayed at home.

Adults, you can play too! Be A Kid Again! in Hasbro’s Our Big Backyard. Build forts and castles with colorful fabric, run through the sprinklers, play in a treehouse, crawl through tunnels, balance on branches, play in the mud and more all while enjoying live music from local classic rock band Farm Dog. Find out why the Zoo puts so much emphasis on nature play for kids and your ticket purchase supports these efforts.

Of course, there are also programs for the entire family, like Breakfast with the Animals (ages 7+) on March 26. Start with a hot breakfast buffet, then join zookeepers that care for the animals of Marco Polo’s Adventure Trek in a unforgettable experience as they open the Zoo for the day. Or sign up your family up for Rise and Shine on the Farm (ages 2+) on June 10 for breakfast in the Zoo’s ALEX AND ANI Farmyard among goats, sheep, alpaca, and Willy, the miniature donkey.

Pre-registration is required for most education programs. Learn more about these, and other fun programs at http://www.rwpzoo.org/ed-shopping.

Get details for these and other events and education programs at www.rwpzoo.org. Zoo hours October through March: 10am – 4pm, with last admission at 3:30pm.
